If you’re anything like me your always wanting to eat healthy and loose weight but it never goes quite to plan and you just find it impossible to stick to your healthy eating for anything over a week.
These are my 5 tips and tricks I try to stick to even when the healthy eating has gone completely out of the window.
1. WATER. WATER. WATER!
I cannot stress how important it is to make sure you drink enough water. If this is the only thing you take away from this post then it will make you feel 100% better. If like me you ‘forget’ to drink throughout the day when you’re busy then stick to having a large glass when you wake up, with your dinner, tea and before bed. If you add lemon to some hot water in the morning it also adds to your intake and is so good at detoxing.
2. TREAT YOURSELF
I feel as though if I don’t restrict myself and treat myself at the weekend or on a special occasion then I’m more likely to eat healthier the rest of the time. Don’t get me wrong some times I can treat myself everyday of the week – these aren’t the best weeks – but the majority of the time this does help me. So go on, treat yourself to that chocolate cake, you deserve it!
3. EAT BREAKFAST
As you’ve all been told, this really is the most important meal of the day. Whether you grab a slice of toast on the go or make some over night oats to eat once you get to work. Whatever you do just make sure you eat something!
4. STOP SNACKING (ON THE BAD STUFF)
My downfall is my snacking, a biscuit here and a packet of crisps there. By cutting a lot of this out it really makes a huge difference. If you do get hungry between meals pick up some fruit, or a low fat yoghurt.
5. BALANCE IS KEY
The main thing you need to focus on is having a balanced diet where possible. Have a salad, have bread and have some chocolate.
